Tripp Trapp is an adjustable wooden dining chair rather than a padded highchair that happens to last longer. The seat and footplate move in height and depth, letting the chair change as a child grows and keeping them at the family table rather than on a fixed tray island.
Stokke tests the chair itself to 136kg, so the long-term story is not marketing shorthand for “until preschool”. The meaningful question is whether you want a piece of furniture to remain in the kitchen for years.

Buy the exact package you intend to use, not just the wooden frame.
The adjustable footplate is the feature that changes the ownership story
It is what most fixed highchairs cannot reproduce as the child grows.
Both seat and footplate can be repositioned, so a smaller child can sit with useful lower-body support and an older child can progressively gain space. When the Baby Set is no longer needed, the same chair becomes ordinary table seating rather than becoming redundant baby equipment.

The current five-point Harness is optional and sold separately, and Stokke states that it can only be used with the current Baby Set. The Tray also attaches to the Baby Set rather than directly to the wooden chair.

Its natural home is at the table, not folded in a cupboard
That can be an advantage or an immediate reason to choose something else.
The chair does not fold. It is designed to sit at dining-table height as a permanent piece of furniture, which avoids daily unfolding but assumes you have floor space to leave it there.
The optional tray is useful if you want a separate eating surface, but it is not the product’s central philosophy. The stronger reason to buy Tripp Trapp is bringing the child into ordinary family-table seating and retaining that seat afterwards.
